Who’s Afraid of Virgina Woolf deals with two unhappy and frustrated people trapped in a toxic, interdependent relationship. Their refuge is alcohol, sarcasm, taunts and other forms of high-class verbal violence. They also victimise their guests in an elaborate psychological game – partly as a team and for their own entertainment and partly as form of vicious competitive one-up-man-ship, with the guests used as unwitting proxies in their domestic warfare.

If the prospect of a bitter and unhappy relationship raises any issues, it might not be the show for you.
